Wassup everyone! Check out this verse I made as a response to my crew Shadow of the Locust's new song they recently released for free.
One of my favorite things to do is write lyrics. This one came out pretty well but it would sound much better recorded on the actual beat. Maybe I'll do that sometime. Mostly I just did this for fun though. You can check out the original song plus many more songs from my crew for free here! Also here's the Lyrics if your interested: (please don't critique the grammar and spelling lol... I don't usually write my lyrics for anyone's eye's but mine) -Cuz blood is thicker then blood, river's of love flood when think of my brothers, miss um gotta hit um up -Tip of the tongue, always ready to lift um, ..up to the father, never let the enemy get um -I got ya back bro, in and out of battle cuz the devil plays games, this is life it aint hasbro -my homies don't play that, we all hear the Shepherds voice with our hearts, with our minds and choice we obey that -never keep it in the family, we extend our hand out to lands and sea's emcee's last, first charity -First with sincerity each brother like a pair of pea's when I see your eye's I'm seein God, that's therapy -We bonded, we grafted, from cradle to casket I mourn when you cry, en I'm happy when you laugh kid -and if we don't see eye to eye we movin arm n arm separated by states, but our home's in the same place -whether goofin off, laughin at dude's with shake weights or diggin crates, music's not all that we create -we share fates and our live's as we wait on this fellowship through storms and waves for Yahweh! This weekend I spent some time on google hangouts drawing and painting with random art buddies. This is one of the pieces that came out of it!
I haven't done a whole lot with painting but it's becoming a nice alternative to coloring digitally and coloring with markers. I'd have to say this is probably my most successful painting to date! I'm really happy with how it turned out. Hope you like it! If you're interested in something like this as a commission I'll do these on 5 x 7 pre made canvas boards for $25. Purchase Here! It took me a while to come to this decision but I've realized that while making money from my music is a goal I would like to achieve some day the real reward is actually in the process of creating and sharing my passion. I do this, and have always done this, for the love of doing it and I would much rather that you have the chance to listen and share my music for free than have it hiding behind a pay wall. I put a too much of my blood sweat and tears into what I do for it to be sitting in the catacombs of obscurity. I believe in this project and am very proud and happy to be able to offer it to you for free so please come on over to the Bandcamp page and get your Free Download of Solar Wind Theory and share it with your friends!!! (hint, hint, my classic Collaboration album B-Sides First is also available for Free Download as well so while your there you might as well fill up your mp3 player with some more good music ;) ) _SOLAR WIND THEORY

Joel the locust man points to the sky to warn all his fellow Earthen creatures that an apocalyptic day is approaching and may already be at hand.
I made this card as I was listening to some music from my Hip Hop crew "Shadow of the Locust" It reflects a common mantra among the "Locust" artist that is born out of a scripture specifically Joel Chapter 2 if your interested. You can find some of our music on Itunes and also my site here at the store section. The locust character is rendered in copic markers and ink and the background is where i played with oil paints. It reminds me of the contrast between the characters and the backgrounds from old cartoons. This is an Original one of a kind (not a print) ACEO Art Card on watercolor paper the size of a baseball trading card: 2.5" X 3.5" The card comes signed on the front and back in a plastic trading card sleeve. You can purchase this piece and more of my art and things at http://Calmplex.Etsy.com God Bless, -Calmplex Street Rat This is an illustration ive been working on for my buddy Reveal also from the crew Shadow of the Locust. Awhile back Reveal put out an album titled "God Choozes the Foolish" but never really printed it up with a cover and stuff. So he asked his homie Calmplex to hook him up. Well ive actually taken way too long to get this done but here it is! The inks are done and dried and all i need to do now is go in and color it with Gimp. Reveal's Story The Idea behind this image that Reveal wanted me to portray is in the title of the album. There's a scripture in the bible that says "but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;" 1 Corinthians 1:27 In this Image you see a somewhat auto biographical portrate of a man sleeping on the side walk as a consequence of foolish choices in his life. It's the nightmare i think we all hope to avoid but sometimes our choices combined with a harsh reality brings things like this about. And so it did at one point in Reveals life on the corner of Hope and 3rd St. This was obviously a turning point in his life where God extended His hand of Grace down to a downtrodden man and choosing him for a greater destiny. The Art What you don't see in this image is something that i will add later. Beyond coloring it I plan on adding a depiction of The Spirit of God basicly ascending upon the man as he sleeps. Not sure exactly how i will do this yet but i have some idea's i will play around with. If anyone has any suggestions let me know im allways open to suggestions. Also another note about the drawing i might add is you may notice the perspective is kinda funky. This is intentional. Not to say i'm really good at perspective anyway but when i was doing the thumbnails i noticed the one for this was off perspective wise and i decided to keep it that way. I think it adds to the dreamy disoriented nature of the situation. I'm hoping with the more extreme forshortening or sort of ants eye view of the building and street sign that it kind of lends to the drama of the situation. SOTL fans may also notice the 'Locust Tri-une' shape sort of hidden in the moon craters. Hope you guys enjoy! Stay tuned for updates and please feel free to comment, suggest, etc. Look for Reveal on his Facebook Page! Wassup everyone how you been? Welcome to my new sketch blog! As many know I am not only into music but ive also been drawing since nursary school and have always wanted to be a comic book artist among other things. Well this is the section of the site where i will be posting sketches, thoughts and progress on visual art projects im involved in. In the future i plan on creating some comics, mini comics, animated video's and all sorts of stuff. So definately stay tuned if your into that kind of stuff. Locust Is Us Todays entry is a quick doodle type of sketch i did for my boy Jeremy. He recently sent a little doodle to me of my name with locust's all around it and i figured id hook him up also. This was all straight ball point pen from my mind to the page so if you see any flaws (like the fact that i totally forgot the 's' in locust and had to kinda cheat to put it in there lol) than blame it on the freestyle nature of this piece. So anyways thanks for checking in... Definately leave any comments or questions in the comment section if you'd like. I allways appreciate feedback and i allways respond!
