There's this concept Ive been thinking about lately.
It's this idea that a painting could have many different finish points. If it’s digital, those finish points can actually be multiple finished pieces. But when it’s physical eventually, you have to stop at one finish point if you want encounter to exist. If you want to allow it to keep the energy and life it was meant to have. But it’s interesting because something could have energy and then die and then you let it have energy again and then it dies again and then you let it have energy again. It can be a never-ending cycle really. so in some ways there’s no way to ruin things because you can just keep going over it until it has life again. So maybe that’s what happens while I’m trying to find my voice. I just keep killing my pieces and letting it live again until I finally allow myself to stop at a finish point. And maybe eventually I can get to the place where I recognize a finish point earlier and stop. Or at least do that more often. When it comes down to it death is an illusion anyways. And in this process is a spiritual reflection of how God wants us to eat from the tree of life, but we keep taking control, and we keep going back to the Tree of the knowledge of good evil. Once in a while, we flow in obedience. We flow in grace. We flow in love. We flow in peace and we let something live... and that’s when the truth comes through... and that’s when encounter comes through... and that’s when God comes through. One issue on the other side of that is this letting it live and letting it stop can also be an ego death.. and that can be uncomfortable. Sometimes the work requires sacrifice in order for life to resurrect in it. I have to die a little if I want my work to live.
